Palm Beach County Building Safety Month

Body

During the Palm Beach County (PBC) Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 7, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May 2024 as Building Safety Month. May also represents the 44th Annual Building Safety Month in partnership with the International Code Council, an industry leader in providing information, tools and resources for building professionals in support of public safety.

This year’s campaign, “Mission Possible,” represents the importance of the connection between building codes and our personal safety, as well as the vital role building safety professionals play in our communities.

“Building safety is essential for everyone, and it includes simple measures such as not overloading electrical outlets and the safe operation of a portable gas-powered generator,” said Planning, Zoning and Building (PZB) Executive Director Whitney Carroll. “It also involves the enforcement of building codes to protect residents from hazards such as structural collapse and weather-related events such as flood damage. PZB’s Building, Contractors Certification and Code Enforcement divisions work together to ensure structures are safe in unincorporated PBC,” she added.

"The Building Division is proud to be part of a community that values the importance of strong, resilient structures where we live, work, play and learn," said PZB Building Division Director Doug Wise.  "We also recognize efforts of our professionals who diligently work each day within the building safety industry.”
